Create a metamask wallet

Overview

Step-by-step

1 – Download Metamask

1 Go to metamask.io

2 Click Download for Chrome to download for Google Chrome browser. You will be taken to the Chrome Extensions store.

(You can click Download at the top to select a different supported browser on the next screen. The following steps will be similar to the process for Chrome.)

3 Read the Cookie terms and click I Agree

This screen may not display if you’ve previously agreed to Google’s Cookie notification.

4 Click Add to Chrome

5 Click Add Extension in the popup window

6A Click the Extensions icon (looks like a jigsaw puzzle piece) in the browser’s URL bar.

 

6B Click the Pin icon to add Metamask to your browser’s URL bar for easy access.

2 – Setup Metamask

1 Click the Metamask icon that is now pinned to your browser address bar.

2 Tick the Terms of Use agreement checkbox, and press Create a new wallet button.

3 Review the Metamask data collection information and click I agree to continue.

4 Enter a secure Password and confirm. The password is for the current device only. Click Create a new wallet to continue.

5 Watch the security video and click the button to Secure your wallet with a Secret Recovery Phrase.

6 Click Reveal Secret Recovery Phrase to view the 12-word sequence that secures your wallet.

7 Write down the 12 words. Note the capitalization and word order. You can also copy the words to your clipboard and paste them into a secure document or password manager.

DO NOT SHARE these words with anyone as they can be used to unlock your wallet and access your assets.

8 Confirm the Secret Recovery Phrase by entering the missing words.

3 – Add Polygon Network

2 Scroll down and click Add Polygon Network
3 Click Approve in the Metamask notification popup

4A Click the Network Menu in Metamask

4B Select the Polygon Network from the list and click the Add Network button

Additional Note

If you log into your wallet with it set to the Ethereum network, you may see this notification. Simply click Switch Network to change back to Polygon.

4 – Add $MATIC

1Go to discord.gg/slingshotdao You will need to sign up for a Discord account if you don’t already have one.

2 Scroll to the channel called “Support” or “Help” and post a message asking for $MATIC. Include your Metamask wallet address. (Here are the steps to get your address).

Someone on the SlingShot DAO team will send you about $1.00 USD worth of $MATIC, which is sufficient for around 12 transactions on the SSD website.

5 – Import / Display SLING

METHOD 1 - import $SLING with WatchToken

1 Visit SlingShot’s page on WatchToken.

Click Add to Metamask button

If you attempt to add $SLING to a wallet that already includes $SLING, you will receive a security alert. Only add tokens from trusted sources listed in this guide.

2 In the Metamask popup window, confirm you’re adding $SLING, double check your balance, and click the Import Token button.

3 Metamask will now display your $SLING balance.

METHOD 2 - Manually import $SLING

1 In your browser, click the Metamask extension icon. Login using your password.

If you don’t have Metamask installed follow these directions.

2 Metamask will display your tokens. 

Note that in this example only $MATIC is shown.

Click + Import Tokens

3 Enter the $SLING token contract address:

0xfc9fa9771145fbb98d15c8c2cc94b837a56d554c

The Token Symbol and Token Decimal fields will populate automatically.

Click the Add Custom Token button.

SECURITY TIP: Always check token addresses through a trusted source. Here’s the link to the SLING page on Polygonscan

4 Your $SLING balance will be displayed. Confirm the import by clicking Import Tokens.

5 You will see your recent $SLING activity. Click the back arrow.

6 You will now see your $SLING balance under the Tokens tab.

Congratulations!

You created and prepared a Metamask wallet. You’re ready to connect to the SlingShot DAO website to begin voting and submitting ideas.
